質問したように、文脈がないのでさっぱりわかりません。
ただacademicというからには学術機関のhealthcare institutionだと思います。
それでhealthcare institutionとは病院のこともあり、医療研究所でもありますよね、institutionとは広義の言葉ですから。

でも大学に限らず、財団法人などの医療研究機関ということもあり、文脈がないとそのへんの煮詰めができないと思います。
