English term or phrase: field day
I'm thinking for example about my local newspaper, the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung, which is suddenly finding pages and pages of stuff to write about during the current "Kirchentag". In other words they're having a "field day" or "really going to town".

Leo suggests "Heidenspaß", but are there any other alternatives in German? Would for example "gefundenes Fressen" fit?

Thanks,
Croc

Sounds like the best suggestion in this specific context, otherwise I guess "gefundenes Fressen" would probably work.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

Noch ein Vorschlag. "Gefundenes Fressen" finde ich auch gut.

Und die Firma Langenscheidt schlägt vor:
the press had a field day: es rauschte im Blätterwald

Das passt aber wohl nicht so gut, wenn es nur um eine einzige Zeitung geht.
