I use Win XP Home Edition, Transit 3.0 Smart version, and WF 5.52. My computer is an Acer Aspire T135-S97Z, and I work in a dual screen configuration, with a 22" wide screen and a 17" screen. My computer is an Acer Aspire T135-S97Z, and I work in a dual screen configuration, with a 22" wide screen and a 17" screen. There is an annoying pop-up window that keeps coming back whenever I use Transit, and open a project that has a dictionary. The same problem seems to occur with Wordfast, whenever the new segment contains a word in the dictionary. The message in the pop-up reads "Please wait while Windows configures DAO", and I have to cancel 3 or 4 times before it is really gone. In Wordfast it is also accompanied by another, perhaps even more disturbing thing: the image resolution on my large screen changes from the native resolution of a 22" screen to something much smaller - and it takes half a minute each time before I can get my normal screen back. When I first Esc, the computer enters in "Acer E-power management" mode. (This can also be reached by pressing the Scroll Lock at any moment). While the image resolution of the large screen is modified, nothing can be done on the small screen: the image is visible but I cannot work in any window.) After a few more hits on the Esc button the resolution changes back to that of the 22" screen but the windows need to be resized. Any ideas what I should do to avoid these? DAO means Data, Access, Objects. A microsoft slogan for databases in the first generation. Now it is ADO access, Data, objects. Much earlier it used to be Jet ISAM, These are database engines. Gruss Brandis | |

Thank you very much, this was the solution. Indeed, these problems started when I installed a new ATI graphic card for the dual screen configuration. I also uninstalled "Acer e-management", so both problems are solved now. Thanks for your input, too, Ken and Brandis.
