Hi there,

just got myself a new, shiny lovely laptop today. Unfortunately with Vista.
I don't seem to be able to install Open Office on the machine.

When trying to start the install, I get the following message:

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)

I have, some time ago, successfully installed OO on my home PC (windows XP).

Any ideas what I've done wrong this time?
I browsed thru the forum, but couldn't find the answer.

HELP!

Was MS Office already installed on your machine?

Vendors usually try to/have to sting you for buying it separately, whether you want it or not.

OO installation attempted from a download, I presume? Does Vista have something encoded that says first you buy/ install Office and only then will it permit you to mess around?

Or am I paranoid?

Good luck

Chris

No. Neither did I have one on my PC.
