Spanish and Portuguese diacritical marks

I have an English keyboard and I need to know the best way for typing Spanish and Portuguese diacritics in programs other than Microsoft Word, for example when searching in Google or when subtitling on www.dotsub.com. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Aaron,

I have a laptop that I bought in Australia and use the ABNT2 keyboard layout on it. Simply install this layout that comes shipped with latest versions of Windows.

ó = Alt + 0243
ú = Alt + 0250
ñ = Alt + 0241

Á = Alt + 0193
É = Alt + 0201
Í = Alt + 0205
Ó = Alt + 0211
Ú = Alt + 0218
Ñ = Alt + 0209

¿ = Alt + 168
¡ = Alt + 173
« = Alt + 0171
» = Alt + 0187
