Microsoft Windows Update has been trying to get me to download Service Pack 2 for about a week now, but in view of the potential problems - see http://www.proz.com/topic/23893 - I have not done so. However, I wondered if anyone has now installed it, and if so, what problems it presents.

Wait a while Aug 20, 2004

A local computer guru cautions against rushing into downloading it. He advises to wait a few months.

One problem yet, but solved Aug 20, 2004

My computer installed the SP 2 automatically yesterday and WinFax 10 Pro lost a modem.
The modem was still there in a control panel and the dialler. After loosing an hour trying to solve the modem problem, I simply reinstalled the WinFax, which took 2 minutes and then WinFax found it. No other problems so far, but I haven’t worked with all programs installed yet…

just auto-installed Aug 22, 2004

and nothing happened.

However I have Trend microsystems Firewall and PC-cillin AV software. So, after the installation the SP2 warned me that to run two firewalls on one system is not good, so I turned the Windows' firewall off. That's it.

Thank you all for the information. Aug 22, 2004

I think I'll leave it till it's offered on a CD, because I don't have broadband yet, and downloading at least 75 MB via a dial-up connection would take a very long time. When I get it, I'll follow Vladimir's example and turn off Windows Firewall (I am also running the Sygate one).

Please see this link Aug 24, 2004

See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130
This url gives an up-to-date information about the programmes that are being disabled by the new upgrade. It is Microsoft that is saying so. Take care.

This is being constantly updated.

Regards,
N.Raghavan
