I have recently changed from a dialled line to broadband and, in spite of this, I still get the connection boxes. Surely if I have broadband they would not appear any more?

If I connect, then I get an error message saying that there is no dialling line (error 680) - as expected, as I have broadband. If I work offline, I can surf the Net but it I want to send an e-mail, for example, I am asked to connect. "Diagnose" option does not work, and if I choose "Close" the boxes usually, but not always, go away and I can then work. But the doubt is, why are the boxes still appearing as I new have broadband (this has been confirmed on my telephone bill, I am no longer being charged for Internet access). ▲ Collapse

You probably still have your dial-up connection available in Windows. Try deleting the dial-up connection in the Connections tab of the Internet options dialog box (You can find it in the Control Panel). By the way, most, if not all, adsl connections still require that you login with a username and password.
Hope it works.
