Honestly, I don't know how this discussion came about. Viktoria made an assumption that XP is no longer available on new laptops, and everyone and his uncle start reinventing the wheel, suggesting to uninstall Vista and whatnot. Eleni, you don't even have to go to brick-and-mortar retailers, the availability online is greater by far: http://www.dealtime.com/xFS?RST=PP-&SEO=laptops&KW=xp http://www.nextag.com/xp-professional-laptop/zzukzB1z38--products-html http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_pc?url=node=493964,541966,565108&field-keywords=xp&x=0&y=0 http://www.bizrate.com/laptopcomputers/operating-system-compatibility--pc/refine__att--1__att1--more__att249--632-.html Sure, it's interesting to discuss the intricacies of "uninstalling" Vista, but that's a separate case. If we stick to the topic, the question initially raised is now officially a non-issue in my eyes... ▲ Collapse | | | Niraja Nanjundan (X) Local time: 15:23 German to English
Hi Viktoria, I realise I'm joining in this discussion rather late, but I'm just about to buy a new PC myself and have been offered a Lenovo (by a computer dealer), "blank," so that I can install Windows XP and Office 2003 (which I much prefer to Vista) on it as well as my CAT tools (Trados and Wordfast). I don't know if you've solved this issue yourself, but you could try Lenovo too, if you like. That said, I live in India and sometimes we get things on the electronics ...
