Hi all,

I am looking for a provider of liability insurance for translators based in Spain.

Any recommandations?
Tip?
Do you have an idea of the range of prices?

Many thanks in advance

Nathalie

Hi, Nathalie.

My insurance is 151,79 EUR per year (2016).

Do a research and evaluate the coverage that suits you better.

Have a nice day!

I don't have any - it's the one insurance I've decided I should do without.

I had it when I lived in France and it wasn't until I moved here that I realised I'd been pay premiums for years that in all likelihood offered me zero protection. What I hadn't appreciated was that the client had to be in France, too! And I send invoices to around 20 countries every year. It seems that most Spanish policies have the same idea, and as a French to English translator very little of my work comes from Spain. I found a couple that covered the whole of the EU for a reasonable sum, but if you want cover for the world, including the US with its penchant for legal cases (which would certainly be necessary in my case), the premium goes sky high.

So, my one piece of advice to you is to read the small print more carefully than I did.

Did you pay 151,79 EUR for liability insurance to cover damages caused by translation errors? Oct 17, 2016

A lot of translators couldn't even earn that amount by doing translations.

I thought it was 15179 EUR per year Oct 17, 2016

It had never occurred to me that a comma could be used to indicate the decimal place.
