Hi all and specially those living in the River plate area!

For those of you who never attended one, powwows are informal get-togheters of ProZians and new friends that take place in many cities around the world. It gives you the chance to get to know in flesh those that we have virtually met through the site.

Powwows are about having fun, but the professional aspect is also very present. Imagine, you get a bunch of translators toguether and what do you think they will talk about? So, one gets to learn about what other colleagues are up to, about courses, conferences, scholarsips and opportunities in the area, that is life beyond or computer screens! And then there is always a business card exchange, and the "hey I know a colleague working in your area". Many long term work relationships sprang into existence at powwows.

In some cities these meetings take place every month or regularly. For example in London you have every month in the same place the the London Stammtisch (German for "regulars' table" or "regular get-together"), then the girls from Lyon also meet regularly -thought they have creative changing locations, like a bowling place once- and in La Plata & Buenos Aires we have at least one a season.

You may visit this page to check out the upcoming powwows in all the world http://www.proz.com/powwows

If your city is not there, you may propose one yourself. It is as easy as picking a date and a place!
