Yes, I have experienced the same problem. In the "Recent visitors " section too. Fancy that, today I have decided to renew my membership, let's hope that Proz remembers it! The best thing to do is to notify the problem. Regards, Simona | | | Natalie Poland Local time: 12:38 Member (2002) English to Russian + ... MODERATOR SITE LOCALIZER
In fact, I have answered you in the abovementioned thread, however, as you opened this new thread, I'll answer here too. There are no removed postings in that thread about Trados; obviously, there were some technical problems with ProZ.com servers; please check the notifications for duplicates.

Tomas, keeping it simple, ProZ.com has several servers where the databases are copied; each server copies data with some time lag period. If one of the servers goes down, it looks like some data are missing. If there are no replicate postings in the thread, and no hidden postings (and I swear there aren't any), this means that one of the servers is down, and this is a technical problem. Please kindly submit a support request to let the site staff know about the problem. I myself wi... .. I've typed one forum post and a few KudoZ discussion entries that were simply eaten up : the Kudoz entries appeared and disappeared many times, and the forum post never appeared at all. I am not sure if this very post will appear at all, but I will still send it. Some tech issues? | | | Same problem (Spanish) | Jun 7, 2009 |
I am experiencing exactly the same problem that Tomas has, I am being notified of posts but they are not visible and I cannot answer to my peers. I have already submitted a support request, but I am new to Proz.com so I did not know very well how to proceed. I hope this is the correct way. Regards, Maria

Please be sure to submit a support request when you notice strange system behavior! Discussion in forums is not enough. Best, Natalia | | | Non-paying, non-verified members: why posts may disappear/reappear; 'vetting' | Jun 7, 2009 |
I don't subscribe to any threads, except those I start, so I am not too sure about that aspect of it. From my experience: 1 Posts may be hidden and unhidden by Moderators. 2 Posts may disappear (within 24 hours of posting) because peers are editing/have edited them. 3 Peers may decide themselves (within 24 hours of posting) to delete the entire post. Lesley @ ScottishWildCat: about time delays, in my experience, there is generally a time-delay for 'vetting', before non-paying members' (aka 'users') posts are published. This is generally an up to 24 hour lag, but it can be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances.

Lesley, you make a very clear analysis of why posts may be hidden, but I'd like to add that sometimes there are also server/technical-related reasons, as already explained by Natalie. In this case, sometimes you even get to see a warning message (in red) that says that forums (or the whole site) are in "read-only" mode (which means that nothing you post or edit will be recorded). About your points 2 and 3 above, I'd like to mention that not too long ago we had a case (in the Spanish forum) where someone decided to request (to Proz.com) to remove all his posts (I believe there were more than 7 posts) in a thread. Consequently, those of us who had exchanged opinions with this person were requested (by the corresponding forum moderator, a Proz.com staff member) to edit or remove our posts accordingly, since some of our posts were clearly related to the messages the said poster decided to remove, so they ended up looking rather "orphan" without the messages to which they referred. A rather awkward situation, but clearly/voluntarily requested by the said poster, so Proz.com is not always "responsible" for post hiding. About your following comment: lai an wrote: @ ScottishWildCat: about time delays, in my experience, there is generally a time-delay for 'vetting', before non-paying members' (aka 'users') posts are published. This is generally an up to 24 hour lag, but it can be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances. Post/message vetting delays only apply to forum participants (paying or non-paying) who have not been "VIDed" (in the FAQ there is information about what getting "VIDed" means, but basically it means that your identity has been verified). If you get VIDed, your messages are posted immediately, unless there are other reasons (already explained) for the delay or the hiding. | | | Arnaud HERVE France Local time: 12:38 English to French + ...

In many places around the world, in fact in most I think, the use of severals servers precisely results in never losing data, if one server goes down.
Yesterday morning I posted in the Italian forum and asked a Kudoz. I saw them for a few minutes, then both disappeared and reappered again much later. I don't like this, I'll send a support ticket. | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » posts disappearing (Staff: technical problem, should be back to normal) Trados Studio 2022 Freelance | The leading translation software used by over 270,000 translators.
