Would like to report a issue on Passolo and Trados, fortunately fixed as below.

Background:
1- A translation job using Passolo 2015 Translator Edition.
2- Job includes a Trados' TM.
3- Having intalled a Trados 2015 on same machine that runs Passolo.
4- Having upgraded this Trados 2015 to SR2.
5- All working well before upgrade to SR2.

Incident:
Error when TM is accessed, precisely when Plugin is loaded.

Would like to report a issue on Passolo and Trados, fortunately fixed as below.

Background:
1- A translation job using Passolo 2015 Translator Edition.

3- Having intalled a Trados 2015 on same machine that runs Passolo.
4- Having upgraded this Trados 2015 to SR2.
5- All working well before upgrade to SR2.

Incident:
Error when TM is accessed, precisely when Plugin is loaded.
You click "Find Fuzzy translations" to search TM and a error is displayed in Messages window.
Or you try to add TM to Translation Helper and you get a error.

Solution:

1- Need Adminstrator atribute to proceed.
2- Open Passolo's install folder e.g. C:\\Program Files (x86)\\SDL\\SDL Passolo\\SDL Passolo Translator 2015\\
note: for 32 bit machines \\Program Files\\ instead of \\Program Files (x86)\\

3- Then open System\DnTradosStudio.

4- Use a editor (memopad, notepad++, etc) to open settings.xml

5- Edit as below:
Example: <InstallLocation>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\SDL\\SDL Trados Studio\\Studio4\\</InstallLocation>

You have to put install path of Trados 2015 SR2 between <InstallLocation> and </InstallLocation>.
Do not use "quotation marks". Note that different PCs may have different install path.

6- Save setting.xml

7- Close Passolo if it is open and restart it to verify.

It fixed my trouble but I do not know why...hope someone can explain... ▲ Collapse

Hello,

SDL Passolo is using SDL Trados Studio components to interface with TMs. The installation path of Studio is searched in the Windows registry using a GUID. Unfortunately this GUID is changing with newer SRs in Studio. So older Passolo licenses will not find newer Studio SRs which can be solved with the described work-around.
