Frankly, I think I won't accept this job, because there's something "funny" about it.

It's a scam Nov 5, 2019

It looks like the other dozens of other scams translators receive every day. Thanks for reporting this, and get back to work.

Scam ou pas...? Nov 5, 2019

See more

I receved the same email from Joy Mazur Nov 5, 2019

Hi Carla,

As I received the same email from Joy Mazur yesterday, I would like to know if yours exchanges with Mazur still continue or finally you find out it's just a scam.

In my case, the request is about a translation from EN into Italian, but the emails and the documents to translate are exactly the same.

Thank you for your kind reply.

Best,
Monica

Scammed by Debby Hampton Nov 13, 2019

Good morning,

I think I can be scammed for the same person but with a differente name and email. A month ago I received a request for a transation from English to Spanish.

After I sent him the quote, he accepted it and send me this email:

After, I send him all my details and I started working on the document. Then, I received this email, so I started to believe this was untrustworthy.

«How are you doing today? I will like to inform you that the payment has been sent out by my sponsor before leaving on vaction, but there seems to be a slight mix-up, The amount for the event planner/organizer which is 9500 EUR was sent to you, while the event planner got your payment but I believe it's a thing we can handle as soon as you deposit the check and the funds are made available in your account.»

I asked him for the original document and send it back to me but now I am not receiving any answer.

The name of this person is Debby Hampton. So, as I was scammed because of my lack of experience and my desire of working I hope nobody else would lose its time.

If you receive the overpayment check don't do anything. It is a fake. Even if a sloppy bank teller accepts your check, after two weeks it will bounce and you are liable.

Stay safe and read more often the "SCAM" forum to stay informed.

I'm agree Dec 24, 2019

I did a work and he told me that "is seems to be a SGLIHT mix-up", how can you make a mistake that big ?

He owe me 600 euros and tried to send me 9900 euros.

So I said keep the work (that should be a fake work anyway) and he told me, he already sent the money, (something like that).

I won't touch the money of course, i would be liable but I've already told him not to send the money, I've told him that i know how it works (this king of scam).

In all the scam requests I have received, the term "my sponsor" keeps popping up. Why does a prospective client need "a sponsor"?
It looks like these scams are originating from the same person.
