Hi,

Sometimes ago, I was going to download anti spyware. But there are so many software that I was puzzled. However, at that time I downloaded Xsoft spyware which was lapsed after 30 days evaluation period. Can you name any spyware which is good as well as free?
Thanks in advance.

I've been using... Jul 17, 2006

NOD32 and I've been happy with that.
Used to have Norton - NEVER AGAIN! Norton antivirus is notorious for conflicting with other software and is actually not the best in terms of virus protection (look at http://www.virusbtn.com/index).

NOD32 is not free, however, but it's not expensive.

Good luck!

I use Ad-Aware as well as Spybot. In my experience, the first one yielded a particularly good result. But you should feel pretty confident by using both, as well as a normal antivirus.

I agree - I normally run first Adaware and then Spybot.

But even more, I recommend to use alternative browsers like Firefox, Opera and so on. You will be astonished of the results! They hardly let come in any spyware!

It is good to change your browser Jul 18, 2006

I hardly ever use Internet Explorer. One of the reasons is that because it is so feature-rich, hackers and spyware generators find it very convenient to work with it in embedding spyware/adware on your computer.

Not the same with browsers built on the Mozilla engine (Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox). However, for the purposes of your web use, you will not feel a difference in features between IE and the Mozilla based browsers.

For spyware I use, SpyDoctor and Microsoft's own spyware software which you can download free from their website.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my default browser and AVG antivirus also run in my machine. Still I think that an anti spyware is helpful to get more protection for my machine.

What is your vision?

I only have experience with these two programs. Ad-Aware is very user-friendly. Spybot requires a master's degree in rocket science or brain surgery to use. This is just my opinion.

Besides, a good personal firewall will keep most baddies at bay (or at least it will keep them contained).

F-Secure Jul 18, 2006

I use F-Secure Internet Security for spyware, firewall and anti-virus protection. I also avoid Internet Explorer at all cost - Firefox is the way forward. I used to prefer Opera, but I've now switched to Firefox as I find it more compatible with wider ranger of sites.

F-Secure's Anti Spyware is Ad-Aware though... or at least they look nearly identical if they're not.

Whilst you're at it, why not drop Windows?
