During the conference, you will be asked to think about the following questions:
a) Technology, particularly IT is now at the centre of our workload.
  • Is technology creating more work for linguists or is it taking work away from them?

  • Is IT logic used in IT applications compatible with linguistic logic?

  • Is technology driving prices down and forcing our daily productivity up?

During the conference, you will be asked to think about the following questions:
a) Technology, particularly IT is now at the centre of our workload.
  • Is technology creating more work for linguists or is it taking work away from them?

  • Is IT logic used in IT applications compatible with linguistic logic?

  • Is technology driving prices down and forcing our daily productivity up?

b) CAT tool technology has come a long way over the last few years.
  • Does it really increase productivity?

  • Does it really help with quality?

  • To what extent should CAT tool start integrating MT?

c) MT has also evolved tremendously over the last few years
  • Do you think that there is any chance that in a near future, a root base machine translation will have an algorithm powerful enough to make translators irrelevant?

  • Do you think that a statistical based machine translation will ever have all the data it will ever need to generate any translation without the input of a translator?

  • Nowadays, most MT systems combine both RbMT and SbMT. Do you think that in the future there will be no more translators, only post-editors?

And we will try to answer these questions on Sunday

See you all there.
