As the question: on my prsonal setting - Services and Offerings, how do I add to the list of Working Fields? I must have entered what is already there, but I have completely forgotten how.

Help?

Hello FreeHansje

When you click your way to Services and Offerings, what you have to do is select a subject from the list on the right, and then click the green box below the list where it says 'Add to Working'.

There are three boxes:
Add to specialties
Add to working
Add to interests

Hello FreeHansje

When you click your way to Services and Offerings, what you have to do is select a subject from the list on the right, and then click the green box below the list where it says 'Add to Working'.

There are three boxes:
Add to specialties
Add to working
Add to interests

You are allowed a maximum of 30 working fields, so if you already have 30, you will not be able to add any more. You can remove one and replace it with another, of course.

You can see how many fields you have just above the list of working fields.
You can then drag and drop them to rearrange the order if you want to.

You are allowed 10 specialties and 100 interest fields.

I hope that helps.

What can I do, when my working field, such as "Quality Assurance", is not in the list?

Tnx! Aug 14, 2012

After your reply I had a good look, and you are right, I should have figured this out myself...
I saw I have some subjects in Interests and some in Working. I wonder what is the difference? Should I see Interests as being knowledgeable in those subjects and Working as having a thorough understanding on the subject? Or should I look for another difference?

Tnx again.

Send a support ticket to the staff.

I would suggest having one or two 'open' subject fields, where users could add their own subject areas. 'Other' is simply not helpful here, and it is impossible to make out a list that really includes all the unusual fields.

But those are the ones that really need to be shown by a specialist translator when clients are searching for someone who can cope with unusual requirements...

As Christine suggests, Rolf, if you would like to suggest a field for inclusion into the list of available profile fields, please submit a support request. Thanks!

Interest, working and specialty fields Aug 16, 2012

Note that you can report three different type of fields in profiles: 1) specialty, 2) working and 3) interest fields. The difference between these three could be described as follows:

While specialty fields are also working and interest fields, they are said to be those fields in which you specialize (i.e. you have broad knowledge or do your best work), working fields would be those that are also interest fields, but in which you actually work / offer services, without necessarily having an expert knowledge, and interest fields would be those fields that interest you, but in which you have not completed any project yet.

Hope this explains.

Lucia
