Hello,

is there a problem with PDF resume files. I uploaded a PDF file as my resume, but I am not able to download it. It gives me a message "File doesn't begin with %pdf". Even with "save target as", I cannot open it. I tried already several times to reupload it, but there is no change.

Kind regards

Noe

No problem here...? Jul 22, 2003

Hi,
I just downloaded your profile - no problem at all.
(Win2k Pro, Acrobat 5.0, MSIE 5.5)

Does your browser recognise other PDFs?

Best regards, Ralf

that's fine Jul 23, 2003

Hi Ralf,

thank you for testing the download, I have no idea why it is not working from my side:
WinXP, Acrobat 6.0, IE 5.0, Opera 6.0, Crazy Browser
I can open all other PDF's.
But if it's possible for clients to get the CV, it must be fine.

warm regards

Noe

Hello Ralf,

I just got an e-mail from a proz-member that is not possible to download my CV. File is corrupted ...
It's strange why does it work sometimes and for some people and sometimes not?

Cheers

Noe

It's Opera's fault! Aug 6, 2003

It's Opera 6.0's fault! I had the same problem with Opera 6.05. Opera sees the PDF as some type of gzipped file (I didn't do much research into the problem).

The solution is to use another browser, or upgrade to Opera 7. I'm using Opera 7.11 and this issue has been solved.

BTW, *ANY* resume format was affected, not just PDFs.

But if it's possible for clients to get the CV, it must be fine.

As long as clients don't use Opera 6 (or inferior, I suppose), they'll be able to download the file correctly.

To be honest, the ProZ.com staff could tweak a little the MIME type of the resume files so that Opera 6 would download them as well

Dan Dascalescu
