OK, I'll vote 'for life' too! Nov 23, 2017

Probably seriously winding down after five years... This staying up all night is NOT good at my age, I've been up til 4 am for a crazy client who kept changing the deadline, then I found a whole lot of places where the source said 'min.' and probably meant 'max.', so I had to check and flag them...

But I don't want to stop working for all the others.

Another 20 minutes if I could get away with it Nov 23, 2017

For life?!

I translate in order to have a life!

It's not that I don't enjoy translating, but...

The way my pension's performed, I probably can't retire fully for another 10-15 years unless I bump off some more rellies, but I've already wound down to 3-4 days a week so I can do other, funner things.

Bingo, cruises, pushing in, ticking people off, dribbling with impunity. So much to look forward to!

In memoriam
For a moment, Chris, Nov 23, 2017

I thought you meant you'd already bumped off 3 or 4 rellies, but ... I am knocking on a bit and am not, perhaps, as sharp as I used to be.
Love and dribbles,
In it for life,
Jenny

Another 20 years Nov 23, 2017

...as things stand, but if I can live off my pension earlier or win the lottery, I'll close shop earlier without the slightest shame.
I don't see myself working another 20 years, but I'll likely have to.

Philippe

I enjoy what I do and can't see myself fully retiring unless my faculties fail me, as I think I would probably end up feeling bored without translation to fill my days. In any event, I don't think retirement will be an option that will be financially viable for my generation.

I don't know Nov 23, 2017

I'm such a pessimist - a few days without work and I worry that my career is over. On the plus side, I've been reading some brilliant books lately.

I tried other areas for 20 years. I never want to go back to any of them.
I'l be a freelance translator till the day I die.

I don't know my future, but what I intend is to be a translator for life.
