I've done freebies for deserving causes on a couple of occasions. I don't make a habit of it though, as I have to make a living and I don't have a lot of spare time.

Yes, I very occasionally do free translation for Greenpeace - interesting material on green campaigns, climate change and so on.

Like the rest, only very rarely Aug 24, 2015

If I'm not working, I'm doing other urgent things like taxes. Translation for my clients takes up all my time.

Does family count? When I was married, I interpreted for my husband for 9 years. Sometimes I help the American branch of his family communicate with the Brazilian branch by translating letters and documents.

Yes - a lot Aug 24, 2015

I started out as a volunteer, more specifically as a missionary, in Argentina. I did that for about two years.

I still do a lot of volunteer work. I translate for Intermon Oxfam and occasionally for Translators Without Borders. I am also launching my translation app right now, so we're doing our first site - a small zoo - for free as a service to the local community... and it's great publicity

I try to do as much volunteer work as I can, primarily for charities and to help the Spanish speaking community in my area.

Yes Aug 25, 2015

I translate for Handicap International and the Belgian organisation Iniciativa Cuba Socialista and I really enjoy doing so...
I feel "useful" whenever I do some volunteer work and like the idea that I'm helping people by what I do best.

Never done it officially, Aug 27, 2015

But I have nothing against it, if it's for a good cause.
