Top according to what? If you mean current (estimated) value, then http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/ekstraklasa/marktwerte/wettbewerb_PL1.html will give you an answer.

Does "are playing this season" mean that they must be playing right now for a Polish club or do players transferred out during the winter break count as well?

Gwidon, yes they have to be playing right now.
I think it means most popular, best players of football, best results, that would make them have the most value in UK at least, I suppose it must be the same in Poland?

Based on such elusive factors as talent, media presence, international career to date and future prospects (the younger the better), I'd say the following five might be considered as "top": Rudnevs, Stilic, Krivets, Smolarek and maybe Kirm (or Jaliens, he has to make his debut for Wisła yet). The first three are young players (23-24 now) who might eventually make their way into LM calibre clubs. The other two are at the declining stage of their careers, but have the most national team experienc... See more
