Why not?
After all, the first goal of every conscious leader should be to protect the people's money and wellbeing, and using one plane for all sounds a lot better to me than sending 20 airplanes. Unfortunately using a single airplane has proved to be a bad idea in this very particular case.

Yes, Tomás, I completely agree.
As the same questions were asked in Poland, the explanation offered is that the procedures do not say a word about chiefs of every force travelling together. They only prevent a chief and his first deputy travelling together so that the deputy can take over if anything happens. And all the deputies did take over, so the forces seem to be fully operational. However, it's not a comfortable situation when every single chief is new to his post - the experience of being a deputy is not the same...
We seem to have an "acting State" right now - acting President, acting governor of the central bank, acting chiefs of the Army / Navy / Operations / General Staff... And the people are trying to be "acting normal".
I'd also like to join my colleagues in offering thanks to the Russian authorities and common people. We really appreciate your attitude... Thanks.

I just finished reading the article. It is moving, and beautiful. Forgiveness and love. Beautiful Poles, I admire you.
Somehow this is such a 'loaded' tragic event, one that somehow goes beyond horrible accident. The fact that they were going to commemorate a tragedy and died together is just sad beyond words. What a hard blow for Poland.

I am a Christian. On Sunday morning the sermon at church was coincidentaly about preparing for death. There is no other real comfort to me, than that we were not meant for this life alone. Praise God for the way he opened for life beyond death in Jesus!

Thank you for copying the link to the article, Stanislaw, and let me comment on this. Russian leaders behave like humans (maybe a bit of shock to some of us) and we jump to conclusions. I would advise Mr Michnik to calm down and be guided by a cool head and warm heart rather than vice versa. This is time of mourning and our focus should be on those who died. And when we return to politics, I would remind him that politics is about interests and power and not empty words and gestures...

Thank you, Iza, for the citation. It's beautiful, I must admit.
However, I can't resist thinking about those who passed away recently, and when you quoted MLK's words on Georgia, immediately some other 'red hills of Georgia' and another dreamer came to my mind... Well, on the radio today you could hear young listeners, expressing their deep surprise on hearing how Lech Kaczynski was remembered by some people - completely different picture of him has been painted by media in recent years... This is what preoccupies me in these days... Not to blame anybody personally but maybe to learn something for the future? In other words, maybe a reflection on the quality of our public debate seems to me more appropriate and important now than dreams about our future relations with Russia... Afterwards, we will also have time for this.
