With Petula Clark and Peter O'Toole
Saw it on TV. Worst acting, directing possible. And those songs!!! they threw in for Ms Clark to strut her stuff. O'Toole was miscast as well. I'm sure there are other 'worst' films but this one springs to mind as the number one worst film I've ever seen.
On a more general note, anything with Charlton Heston, Victor Mature (their films seems to be as bad as their acting) .. but that's too close to another topic-worst actors.....

I find it amazing how far apart people's views are on some movies. I absolutely love Pulp Fiction, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Kill Bill and many of the other movies listed here.
Now, according to my criticker.com list of films I ranked, my lowest score was for Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. You fellow film buf... Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road... god how I hate Sam Mendes. Interestingly, I really like some of the movies named in this thread, most notably Salò (true, you can't *like* this one, but it's to the 120 days what Apocalypse Now! is to Heart of Darkness) and Pulp Fiction (I was thoroughly entertained).

Considering that Hitler was practically a raving lunatic by the end of the war, you wouldn't think you could over-act him, but the guy who played him in this film managed it.
Great example of socialist unrealism!

Well, I'm with the Guardian's film critic on this one: "Brad Pitt gives the most wooden and charmless performance of his life; he acts and speaks as if the lower half of his face is set in concrete."
He was simply dreadful.

I myself enjoy watching Steven Seagal, and he is very popular in Japan. I guess that's because he spent a few years in Japan learning jujitsu, married a Japanese woman (later divorced) and speaks Japanese fluently. Also Arnie and the Rocky Series are popular too here. I guess Japanese audiences prefer machos or stories about American Dream in Rocky due to the significant influence from the West, especially the US. Most of my American friends hate the Rocky series, citing lack of reality.

Hi Christine,
apart from Heimatsfilmen, did you ever (I assume your answer will be positive) see movies featuring Karl Ludwig Diehl, Heinz Ehrhardt and their like - not that I would compare Diehl to Ehrhardt, of course - not to speak about the Dr. Mabuse's bunch... I can remember liking such films at the time being, but am no sure what my reaction to them would be today

Actually, the one redeeming quality of that film is the fact that a lot of the photography work is absolutely gorgeous. It wasn't about "liking" it or not (in terms of...well, you know what I'm talking about if you've seen it, and I'm sure a number of people would rather I not discuss it), but rather about finding it appallingly juvenile - the musician as the only one with enough sensitivity to be unable to bear it any longer at the end, the 6th grade metaphors regarding the different groups of people living in countries with WWII-era fascist regimes, and, most of all, the way the music moved from perfect tonality to serialism - uggh. It felt like having to go through a film done by a pretentious high schooler who quotes Nietzche (whatever he can gather from the corresponding cliff notes) and "hates" Kant without ever having read a word of actual philosophy - just, uggh.

These are the worst movies I saw at least in the last 5-6 years.
I usually see a film till the end but I never finished The Curious Story of Benjamin Button.
Absolutely meaningless and deeply boring.
Revolutionary Road on the other hand was an hysterical movie, two people that could not find a common base to communicate and were shouting each other during most of the film.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Simpsons, but the newer episodes are dead boring.
