Hi all,

It's very nice to be here Could you please help me with the clarification of the following point in the contract:

"... the actual contract value is just an indicator of estimated work and the actual payment will be based on the actual translated symbols/words every month...."

My question is: actual translated symbols mean amount of symbols before or after translation?

My question is: actual translated symbols mean amount of symbols before or after translation?

I'm new in freelancing

Thank you very much!

It is usually based on the number of words of the source text (the text you are asked to translate). I hope this answer your question.

"actual translated symbols/words" Jan 16, 2019

I understand this to mean the true number of symbols or words you will have translated, so with reference to the source text.

I interpret that exactly opposite: the number of words/symbols (already) translated, not 'to be translated'. In any case, it is always better to ask the client to clarify.

You are forgetting the basic question - what is your agreed rate? Jan 17, 2019

Do actual translated symbols/words mean number of symbols and words after or before translation? The employer can't provide me with explanation.

Strangely it does not matter so much if you agree your rate or the total price. Did you agree on it or if not why not?

Thank you very much for all your replies I agreed on the rate, they pay me per character (with spaces). The only problem is "actual translated symbols" issue. The number of characters in the translated text exceeds the number of characters in the source text. I translate from English.
