Hello everyone

Have any of you ever used the services of "Linguist Job$" or "Translation Industry Movers and Shakers" for your marketing? If so, what was your experience with them? Or, if not, have you ever heard from a colleague who has?

Thanks
Samuel

If you google for the text that is written on their web site (if you know what their web site's URL is, of course), then you do get their web site as a primary result in Google. Yes, I see now that if you google for the web sites' names, Google doesn't show it, but Google does show them if you search for something written on their sites.

Anyone touting themselves as "movers and shakers" would garner nothing but derision where I come from. "Look how great I am" ? Por favor.

Any company with dollar signs replacing the letter 'S' kind of scares me. It remind me of all those check-cashing places that are outside casinos with names like "Fast Ca$h"

I have never used this type of service in this sector, but I have worked for companies where they have purchased this type of thing as a matter of course in order to get sales leads. In my opinion they were usually no better than a quick internet or yellow pages search, and at worst contained a lot of out-of-date information. They never came close to the type of DB available from professional organizations in the sector (in our case ProZ, for example).

In any case, a tad in-yer-face for me with their dollar signs and all, coming as I do from this side of the pond.

Bought database from Linguist Job$ Sep 6, 2013

I bought a database of translation agencies from these guys.
Had no trouble with them.

have never tried their marketing services before. The service in question is similar to that offered by TranslatorsDirectory, with the difference that TD requires payment before they do the job, while Linguist Job$ requests payment for the replies you receive from the people they marketed your CV to.

Please can you explain how I can google what is on their website unless I have already found their website?

Not that I'm looking to use their services, but it rather intrigues me that a business should be that hard to find.

I'm not asking you to google for them. I'm asking if you have used their services. You'd know if you did. If you haven't used their services, or know of anyone who did, then I'm not intested in anything you have to say, irrespective of whether you are or aren't able to google for them.
