I always associate Christmas with fruit. Apples and oranges, nuts, raisins, dates, and of course the Queen's peach.

You can probably find a whole host of old chestnuts on the web, too.

My variant so far,

"A span New Year!A spotless slate on which to write your cravings and expectancies.
We wish you to hone your English attainments even further.
We hope your lore of the foreign language will be limitless.
And may Santa bestow upon thee only novenary in IELTS."

It is dedicated to students of English who are going to take an IELTS exam.
Does it sound too awful? Or do we have a light at the end of the tunnel?

I hesitate most of all about "novenary". Is it appropriate to use it here? Should it be in a plural form? (Nine is the best score in IELTS exam, so I wanted to include some fancy bookish word).

Again, any comments are much appreciated.
