dear all,

I posted this poem on proz over a year ago. Since then I've moved houses and now I can't find the book where the poem is.

If there's anyone around with a hard copy at hand, could you please tell me if this version is correct, or there are any mistakes/omissions, etc.

I was thinking of giving it to my students to translate. But first I want to make sure I got the right version.

Thank you,

from sunny Sydney -

That force is lost
Which shaped me, spent
in its image, battered, an old brown thing
swept off the streets
where it sucked its
gentle living.

And what is meat
to do, that is driven to its end
by words? The frailest gestures
grown like skirts around breathing.
We take
unholy risks to prove
we are what we cannot be. For instance,

I am not even crazy.

Hi Rita,

I'm not sure this version is correct. I did find my original posting, but I wanted to make sure there are no typos, etc. Also, it'd be interesting to know in what year it was written.

Thank you.:)
