Long have I searched myself unknown
and found, perhaps too late, my place
in a world unprepared for what I am.

So what, I am told by those
who remember someone other.
Cast aside by time I have struggled forward.

Separated we have grown apart,
Unable to imagine the past that came later.
There is no progress -- only memory.

Better to have remained apart
but still hoping for a different future.
