wonder if you could help me... i'm looking for articles, books, everything connected with Kazuo Ishiguro, When We Were Orphans and The Remains of the Day (I'm especially interested in when we were orphans, its narration, language of the protagonist, the aspect of memory and self-deception). I appreciate any help...
thanks in advance carol

Particularly the comments near the end about British vs. international literature.
My favourite books are An Artist of the Floating World and A Pale View of Hills.
Once you finish reading Never Let Me Go, I'd love to come back to this forum and talk about that a little more, but I think you have to discover it on your own first.
Although I haven't read When We Were Orphans, I found memory and self deception to be important topics in the other books too.

Ishiguro and Freud???

What do you think about the connection between Kazuo Ishiguro and Freud? Do you think there is any link between Ishiguro's themes and Freud's repression, displacement or projection?

conscious vs. unconscious

I'd like to know your (Ishiguro's fans, i'd say ) opinion on this topic.
Do you think Ishiguro's narrators consciously deceive themselves or maybe their self-deception is purely unconscious ?
