I plead guilty, kind of. Mar 2, 2016

Yes, I indeed said various not so nice things, but they were all in response to other not so nice things, and as far as I know, every one of the things I said was provoked. That is, I always try to be nice, until someone is not nice to me. I then try to still be nice, but sometimes fail. After all, I am a human being, with a name and a face. If you poke me, do I not bleed?

Michael

Oh well, it was interesting while it lasted, and we probably exhausted its potential anyway.

Indeed, in fact the whole thing was not too different from a typical kudoz jamboree in the NL-ENG pair!
Btw I know your heart's in the right place

Google because ... Mar 5, 2016

Every day I use a website with the strange name "Google". I have no idea who's behind it or who actually manages the site, but that doesn't make me not want to use it.

Well, Google was started by 2 students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin in the mid 1990s. The word "google" is derived from "googol" which, in mathematics, is 10 to the power 100 (because even then, there was a huge amount of information on the internet). It became successful because of the page-ranking algorithm they developed, which enabled searches to return, at the start of the list of finds, the target sites most likely to be the wanted ones.
