Hello everyone!!

I am studying to be a translator and I would like if someone could give me some advice about how to find a job, and also what agencies I should apply to?

Thank you!

Complete your profile May 19, 2016

Hi. Congratulations for your choice and welcome to this world. I believe the best thing is to complete your profile and declare your language pair/s Then from there, you can start applying for job. If you have extra money then, it is recommended for you to be a paid member.

Please concentrate on your marketing activities. You can find hows-to from Internet searches.
If you cannot find, it is risky since translators now obtain most resources from the cyberspace. Forget the classical libraries now!

Best regards,

Build your profile, create your cv, draft an email highlighting what you can offer, and send it to thousands of agencies that probably exist in your field of expertise. Do not forget to register on their website. Do translation tests.

If you are really good, work will come and stay.

I assume you're looking to be a freelancer. So marketing is the top priority until you have everything a client is looking for. Read everything in the Site Guidance Centre here; attend the Meeting Clients free webinar, construct a professional CV (NOT a job-seeker's one), business cards, maybe a webinar; put up some samples of your work; if you are translating between two common languages then develop specialisations... Above all, expect it to take time.
