Dear colleagues,

I`m thinking of sending some mailing to potential direct clients and am looking for some input from you.

How do you address your potential new clients? Do you send a letter explaining what you can do for them? Or do you also send flyers and other stuff with it? And how do you put up your layouts?

I've heard a Dutch agency just send 1 single (VERY GOOD) letter, they worked on and revised for several months to all their potential and existing clients, and they still receive feedback and new jobs based on that letter - 3 years later...

I used to run a one-man agency, and I received lots of submissions from would-be translators. They told me all about their achievements at school, and their hobbies and their marital status, but what I really needed to know was whether they were any good at translating.

I think the best thing you can send is a single sheet of paper with a sample translation, and brief details of yourself and your language combinations and specialist areas at the bottom. Or do as I do and send a prof
