I recently got my M.A. in translation (Spanish to English and Portuguese to English) and have been (trying to do) freelancing for 3 months now. However, agency after agency asks me fill out registration forms, and then there\'s no response. When I call these agencies to drum up work, they always say, \"Well, most of our work is from English into Spanish and Portuguese.\" I\'ve been filling my time proofreading for a translation agency, a job I had while I was getting my degree, and working for the government at much less than what I should be earning. I would appreciate your opinions on the U.S. market for Spanish and Portuguese to English, especially what the best specializations would be. Or is it hopeless, and better to get an in-house or full-time government job? Thanks for any input you can offer! ▲ Collapse
