Hi, where is the Abbreviations List and how do I get to it? It's a bore having a segment split just because an abbreviation is followed by a full stop. TIA

TM settings Oct 2, 2020

Hi Paul,

This is a TM specific setting (under Language Resources). Don't forget that the TM has to be in the top position in the TM list while preparing the project.

Hi Erik,
I haven't got the foggiest idea what you mean. On top of what list? And in project settings under Translation Memories ma Language Resourses leads me ro norhing.

  1. Open the "Translation Memories" view.
  2. Open the TM you want to use
  3. In the list on the left hand, right click on the TM
  4. In the menu, choose the option "Settings"
  5. On the left hand side, click on "Language Resources"
  6. Double click on "Abbreviation List" on the right ... See more

  1. Open the "Translation Memories" view.
  2. Open the TM you want to use
  3. In the list on the left hand, right click on the TM
  4. In the menu, choose the option "Settings"
  5. On the left hand side, click on "Language Resources"
  6. Double click on "Abbreviation List" on the right half of the window
  7. Edit the abbreviation list according to your needs.


Having done this, the edited abbreviation list will be used while segmenting new files (so it won't help you with existing projects).

Also, in case you are using more than one TM for any project, segmentation will always use the setting of the TM that is the first in the project setting TM list.
