Hi,

Unable to find this function (does it even exist?) anywhere in DVX. Seems to be a minor detail but always having to capitalize the first letter manually after years in Word annoys me every time when I start a new sentence.

Thx for any tips.
Marius

An idea.. Sep 28, 2006

Have you tried activating:

Tools / Options / General / Conversions / Allow case conversions
and ../ Control leading/trailing symbols ?

I am not sure that this will have the desired effect,
but this function in Word has always annoyed me..

Harry

According to DVX help, "Case conversion—If enabled, Déjà Vu X Professional will automatically convert the case of a word in the target to the case of the source."

I have this function enabled but despite it, I must always capitalize the 1st word. Seems I will have to forget it.

Thanks for the tip anyway!

Only Magic can help Sep 28, 2006

Do you know DVX Shift+F3?

It changes a selected word in the following cycle:
- first letter uppercase, the rest lowercase
- all lowercase
- all uppercase

When you are familiar with this function,
you can use it with a macro tool like Iolo MacroMagic
( http://www.iolo.com/mm )

to save a segment and go to the next one,
passing over the first word of the segment,
to select it and perform a Shift+F3.

MacroMagic works well with DVX, although not with Trados Tageditor.

I am using it for many functions, particularly because it offers "magic words" instead of Hotkeys, so I can keep my 10 fingers on the keys, even for mouse actions.

For example, I type "jj" instead of Ctrl + Down.

HTH,
Harry

Yeah, I use it when I need it (with a more comfortable hotkey)
Fortunately, in DVX you can choose any hotkey combo you want, not as in TagEditor, as you mentioned.

As for the Iolo Magic, thanks for mentioning. I was using it for some time but dropped it. Will try it again with DVX and see how it goes.

Thanks for reply!

I find that this setting ("Allow case conversions") works, but with two important notes:

- it does not work/apply to lexicon entries (that is when the term to be managed comes from lexicon!)

- it does not work if the TDB entry has different capitalization for source and target. For example, if in a rush you enter "House" = "casa" and the setting "Allow case conversions" is on, the translation of "House" in first position will be "casa", because the program assumes th

Instead, if you enter "house" = "casa" in the TDB and have that setting on, "House" in first position will be translated as "Casa".
