In Turkey Trados is really expensive Feb 2, 2010

In some countries (e.g. in Poland), Trados Professional floating is on sales now for approx. 1600-1650 euro (excluding VAT) instead of the official 5000 euro.

In Turkey, Trados Pro with floating license is approx. 2500 Euro (most possibly VAT excluded). Really expensive!

Yes, it is, of course.
But my point is rather to show how SDL is cutting the prices for emerging markets in order to gain/maintain a part of the market there.

BTW.
5000 euro (excluding VAT) for one Trados Pro is completely aberrant.
It's the price for MQ server + 5 user licenses.
So, no comments...

Cheers

View option should be standard Feb 4, 2010

to me 1 simple thing only:
give to users the option to have the classic UP/DOWN layout as in MS Word + Workbench, instead or in addition to the RIGHT/LEFT layout of SDLX, DejaVu, last SDL Trados tools and many others

I don't think that a simple Radio button can be so a hard job for CAT tools programmers, and yet no one CAT tool programmer has implemented it so far!

... (but then you'd hardly want to chop and change this setting would you?), but this can be achieved by Tools/Options/General and checking "Edit in a separate text area" and "Split text area vertically".

I do not quite understand why all tools do not offer a choice of at least the two standard views (left/right and top/bottom) that Claudio is requesting. Users are often way more comfortable with one view rather than the other and are likely way more productive with the preferred view. Such a simple interface option should definitely be included in future versions. One tool out there that already has this option is Wordfast Pro. Not unlike the simplicity of a radio button, there are just two tabs at the bottom corner of the translation area: Text (top/bottom) and Table (left/right). Because such a feature is so important to some, it might be worth trying the affordable Wordfast Pro or any other tool that has such an option until Déjà Vu implements it.

Wordfast Pro has but a tiny fraction of Déjà Vu X's power and features.

As David says, DVX has this feature since it was released in 2003. And you can also lock the position of the selected entry in the Table, in order to have a context view of the above and below entries with "Lock vertical scrolling".
