Happy St. Patrick's Day Mar 16, 2007

I know what you mean, pk. Many people in the Northeast part of the country, regardless of ethnic background, take the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day pretty seriously. Some would put on a green-colored piece of clothing, such as a tie, a hat, a shirt, or a sweater, etc. While I was in New York, a group of us coworkers used to always go out for lunch and have the traditional corned beef and cabbage. A few guys would definitely not miss gathering at local watering holes after work.

It's a little different here in Texas when it comes to observing this holiday. Perhaps it's because there's not a big concentration of the Irish population? Or maybe it could be because of Texan's frontier spirit? I'm not sure. We do have a lot of German descendants in the nearby town of New Braunfels who celebrate the local Oktoberfest religiously though.

The shamrock was traditionally used for its medical properties and was a popular motif in Victorian times. It is also a common way to represent St. Patrick's Day, a holiday celebrated on March 17.

不过你们是否落掉了最重要的 condiment (including what's depicted in the pictures), namely "香油", 南方叫 "麻油", 即 sesame oil ... without it it's inedible IMO.
