What am I ?

洋蔥？看來這些 onion rings 炸得、炒得不好，倒真像是炸蛋麵糊或是 deep fried egg dew drops；如果是，炸得香香脆脆的反而好吃些。
中午訂了一點鐘靠窗的桌，邊吃邊欣賞外頭的花園。不幸的是，單獨吃，容易引人側目。

基隆有一位獨自撫養8名小孩的單親媽媽，丈夫拋家棄子，婦人一個人拉拔8個小孩，靠著一個月16400元的低收入戶補助，一路撐到大兒子讀軍校，這位婦人她說再苦也要讓小孩完成學業，她是怎麼做到的一起來看這則故事。
五坪不到的客廳，是李永蘭一家活動的空間，除了沙發沒有其他的傢俱，地板鋪上床墊就成了睡覺的床鋪，斑駁的牆壁，因為潮濕的氣候
留下咖啡色的水漬，家中唯一的床，留給已經唸國中的兩個兒子。
李永蘭表示，鄰居朋友都蠻照顧的，小朋友的營養午餐和學費，原住民身分是有補助的，兩年前因為丈夫長期酗酒又家暴，李永蘭離開宜蘭，亦然決然來到基隆定居，靠著政府每個月16400元的低收入戶補助，住的是泡水屋，吃的是偶而娘家或是鄰居接濟的食物，李永蘭咬緊牙根養活一家人。
8個小孩，最大的大已經唸軍校，最小的才3歲，睜著一雙大眼睛，到哪都要黏著媽媽，決定自己帶小孩，不但為是了省一個月4、5萬元的保姆費，也是不捨得孩子離開身邊。
李永蘭念國三的兒子比同齡孩子還早熟，不忍媽媽和弟弟餓肚子，決定國中一畢業就出門工作養家，雖然生活困苦，不過八個小孩天真樂觀，從他們臉上看不出來一絲絲的不開心，偶而社工帶來的玩具，就是他們最好的禮物，李永蘭說孩子是自己的，再苦他也要撐下去。

在南美，不時在路上看到當地的女性原住民，手上抱一個、背上揹一個、前頭走著一個、後頭跟著一個，肚子裡還懷一個，沒有老公，每個孩子都長得不像一個男人的。
這是個奇特的社會現象，不讀 Isabel Allende 的 Ghost House 之前，還真不懂這個現象哪裡來的呢。
