各位前辈好！我是学翻译的学生，几天前在这里注册了translation student账号。不过进去之后非常茫然：没有翻译可做，student membership还要费不少钱。迷茫中~
不知道学生在这里能做什么，请各位前辈指点一二。谢谢！

在这个平台上，主要看个人的营销能力、翻译能力、价格因素。前两天有朋友让我看了一下proz中文翻译第一人的profile，我发现营销能力真是十分重要，很多时候远重于后两者。

ProZ.com 是译界能人结集地。实际上，我很赞成您的关于市场需要营销的观点。实力一时半会儿改变不大，但有效的营销手段常常可以弥补能力的不足。

首先握爪，我在高校同样学的翻译，确切地讲是做翻译理论与实践研究的。
在这里如果想接到外国的单，我的体会是基本没有希望，或是希望十分渺茫！如果你刚涉及翻译，不妨在这里多看，多练，多参与，比如参与裤头子（kudoz)答题！
翻译专业的学生在语言敏感性和语言表达方面有明显优势，尤其在文科类翻译方面优势更大。当然，有时翻译专业出身的人在翻译的理解和译文的表达上会和非翻译出身的有很大不同，译文也常常得不到非翻译专业出身的同仁的认同。因此，你的答案是否被人采用都无关紧要，重在参与即可。
有时间不妨在裤头子里答答题，练练翻译、也练练打字！如果发现自己感兴趣的领域，能确定一个作为日后的主攻方向则更佳！

请问楼主毕业了吗？
如果有心成为职业翻译的话，很多翻译公司都会提供“岗前培训”的。
学翻译的和学语言太不一样。有前途。

现在国内如做全职翻译还是比较好找的。有不少大公司确实提供上岗前一定程度的培训。如才从学校出来，无论是外语学院还是其他专业转做翻译，去全职翻译公司做一段时间也不失为一个过渡阶段。可为以后自由翻译生涯打下基础。这可体现在两方面：一是对翻译行业的认识； 二是对翻译工具的使用。

I jumped on the bandwagon as a freelancer. I would have LOVED to have the opportunity to intern in a translation company/agency to get some insiders' tips. Above all, I think other than learning how to use the tools or getting to know the industry, you'll learn a thing or two about SALES and Client relations (or management thereof). Which as we know, those are the things that'll help you make it big once you start freelancing
Plus, I think if you get to intern in a translation agency, it'd help you a lot in whichever career you choose to take on in the end. IMO the sales and servicing component would be vital to any career. Knowing how to sell, how to find the people to sell to etc...plus you can learn a lot just by observing how people handle the day-to-day in a fast-paced environment. In my experience, experts in languages sometimes fall into the trap of being so confident and satisfied with their work that they put less focus on the human aspect of the client relationship....so I'd think if you get the chance to work a bit, couple that with your actual knowledge in translation, you'd be going places soon.
