This is the second ProZ.com Certified PRO Network newsletter. This publication is sent via email to all members of the Certified PRO Network on a quarterly basis to keep you updated on network-related news and developments. Each newsletter is also available after publication in the Certified PRO Network newsletter repository forum. Enjoy this second edition!

The ProZ.com Certified PRO Network has reached 3,000 members in May and more and more applications are being submitted every day.

(2) PRO certification for translation companies released
As announced here, translation company owners willing to demonstrate their companies' unique capabilities in keeping with published industry standards can now complete their application for inclusion into the Certified PRO Network and submit it for review.
Allowing translation companies to be part of the network is expected to help expand the network and give enough room for direct communication and collaboration between service providers and companies, fostering more successful service provider-outsourcer working relationships.

(3) New "Suggest a PRO" tool available
Members of the Certified PRO Network can now suggest colleagues for inclusion into the Network using the new Suggest a PRO tool.
This page allows you to suggest colleagues who you believe meet the criteria for inclusion into the Certified PRO Network by submitting their name or username and their e-mail address or user ID. ProZ.com staff will check your suggestions and contact these members directly to invite them to apply for inclusion into the network. Or, if they have applied already, staff will help them to complete their application.

(4) Second 2012 virtual event for members of the network: summary of topics discussed
On June 15, 2012, Certified PROs had their second virtual event of the year. Check
out a brief summary of what was discussed during this event here. Thanks PROs who attended this event for the great discussions you proposed!

(5) Wikiproject Medicine, Wikimedia Canada and Translators without Borders recruiting Certified PROs
Wikiproject Medicine, Wikimedia Canada and Translators Without Borders have launched a project to improve about 80 Wikipedia articles on health care and translate them into simple English and onto as many other languages as possible.
Since there is a strong connection between the ProZ.com Certified PRO Network and Translators without Borders (over 40% of volunteer translators for Translators without Borders are Certified PROs) and since this could be a role with good visibility, Certified PROs are being invited to participate before anyone else. If you are interested in taking part in this exciting project, please post to this forum or submit a support request.
(6) April 24th virtual event: recruitment opportunities still open to members of the Certified PRO Network
As announced here, recruitment opportunities that were only open to those attending April's 24th virtual event are still open to members of the Certified PRO Network, whether you attended this event or not.
These recruitment opportunities will remain open until July 24th, 2012. So, hurry up and apply now!
(7) New article on "Risk management for outsourcers"
With the purpose of helping outsourcers to learn how to find professional service providers like Certified PROs and to show them the steps they should follow if they want to develop a good working relationship with their translators, a new article on "Risk management for outsourcers" is now available in the ProZ.com wiki thanks to the feedback received from members in the network.
The original article in English has been localized into Bulgarian, Spanish, Italian and Swedish. Thanks Petter Björk, Silvia Barra, Diego Achío and GerSi for your cooperation!

I joined ProZ.com as a member in 2008 and became a member of the Certified PRO Network in English to Japanese in 2010. Since I joined the Certified PRO Network, I have been receiving job offers constantly, both from clients in my country and abroad, irrespective of any Australian nation-wide accreditation. Clients contacting me are clearly interested in real working experience and the reputation that the Certified PRO status has.
As a ful-time sole parent in charge of an intellectually impaired child, I don't have time to apply for any other accreditation. However, ProZ.com certification has earned me a good variety of projects, including a film subtitling project, the transcription and translation of a pharmaceutical interview, the translation of businesss and literary texts, even an interpreting assignment for a national TV cooking show called "Destination Flavour" which caused me quite a bit of stage fright!
As a member of ProZ.com, I really enjoy being part of this network and have access to the many useful tools the site offers to us, professionals. Two of the most interesting tools I use on a daily basis include the invoicing system --with a lot of free templates-- and the Translator scam alert center, this last one being of great importance if we, certified translators or not, want to avoid scams. ~ Yumico Tanaka.
