Dragon & Trados together: anyone with experience? Any problems? Thread poster: Mauro Cristuib-Grizzi

I constantly use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 5 for all my translations, but now I would like to purchase Trados 5.5 too. So I want to be sure about the interoperability of these products. Anyone with experience in using Dragon with Trados? Any problems? Slow speed with Dragon or other issues?
Thanks,
Mauro
P.S. I commonly use a 2 GHz Pentium 4 PC w/ 256 MB RAM, 2 HD 40 GB each.
Hi Mauro I use Dragon with Trados (even if 5.0) without any problem; for some type of translation it\'s very useful.

No problem when using the two together.

what Bruno says. I regularly use Trados 5.5 with Dragon Naturally Speaking with no difficulty at all.

I am relatively new to Dragon, but I already experienced speed problems on my PC - AMD Athlon 2400, 256 MB RAM and Dragon XP Edition/Word XP/Trados 5.5.

I installed Dragon but then took it right back off my computer when I realized that I had to \"train\" it. I type about 60 words per minute anyway. Can anyone tell me why I should reconsider using Dragon?

Ehem, yah. You made a great point there, though you got slightly carried away. I think my hands would fall off if I even typed a fraction of what you suggest below. But yes, I can't see Dragon beating a touch typer for translation. I use Dragon NS Professional XP together with Trados 6 Freelance and Word 2000 (I used to work with the same Dragon version and Trados 3 Freelance + Word 97 for awhile). In both configurations, I'm running into the same annoying problem: I have created a macro in Dragon for the Trados Set/Close Next Open/Get command, which works alright, but Dragon always starts new segments with a lowercase letter. Sabine Hi, install as much RAM as you can afford into your PC. 1 GByte would be great, 512 MByte almost sufficient. Kind regards, Dieter Hirschmann
