Hello everyone This is a minipoll to which I already know the answer, but I'm curious about what people's perceptions are. The question is: arrange the following 8 CAT tools in order of how many ProZians claim on their profile pages that they either have the tool or can do translations in the tool. Take into account what you'd think the total number for all versions of the tool would be. Across Deja Vu Fluency Idiom MemoQ Ome... Across Deja Vu Fluency Idiom MemoQ OmegaT Trados (any version) Wordfast (any version) The highest number is about 70 000 and the lowest number is about 600, but you don't have to guess the numbers... just the order of most popular to least popular. Hi Samuel, I suppose CafeTran didn't have enough users to warrant inclusion. Although I hope I am wrong. Michael

It's fascinating how everyone thinks MemoQ should be in the top three, whereas in fact MemoQ is somewhere in the bottom three. Oh, and the difference between the number claiming Across and the number claiming MemoQ is... 19 users (so they're amazingly close to each other). I'm looking forward to a few more guesses.

Samuel Murray wrote: It's fascinating how everyone thinks MemoQ should be in the top three, whereas in fact MemoQ is somewhere in the bottom three. It's probably because memoQ has been a huge success on TGB deals for the past couple of years, and people may also be influenced by the results so far on Kevin Lossner's own mini-survey. OTOH, memoQ was unheard of back in 2007, when existing players such as Trados, Déjà Vu and Wordfast already had a large user base.

I think that I thought MemoQ would be in the top three because perhaps MemoQ fans are the most vociferous. I often wax lyrical on the benefits of MemoQ (to me) compared with the other CAT tools I have used (Trados and Wordfast) and I know that many other translators do, so it does come as a surprise not to see it in the top 3.
