Idiom freezes on segments with numbers

I have a problem with Idiom (9.0.1.60) on Vista SP2 32-bit: it hangs with the waiting cursor whenever it encounters a segment with number that is similar to another segment in the TM, like "Foo 2" when the TM has "Foo 1". When it hangs, CPU utilization goes to 50% (probably saturating one core on my dual-core system), and memory utilization steadily increases.

Any hints?
