Does anybody know of a good alternative to Extra Term from Trados, in order to extract text directly out of source / target files a/o out of translation memories?
Many thanks in advance
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Did you try Fusion's Terminology section? You can extract from TM, files or Microsoft Word document...

Surely Fusion is a good idea, I never try it.

+Tools has so a function (www.champollion.net) and it is for free.

Extra Term (Trados) is not available on the Freelance version.
I have been using it for a long time (Trados 5 Corp.)but the results were not good.

Greetings

T

It's a really wonderful, easy-to-use tool.

I used it quite effectively. You need unregistered Wordfast to use +Tools' +Extract feature.

My point, however, is: alignment and terminology extraction are best done while translating. When I'm finished I have neither time nor strength to get down to it.

Happy Extracting!

Hi! Try Fusion, here you have your solution, you will get your results. Pertaining to Trados TMs, depending upon the the version, you will need to export to a .tmx format, from here rest is a childplay.

Fusion seems to be a good alternative Jun 1, 2004

I downloaded Fusion an hour ago and in a few minutes I was able to extract a bilingual dictionary from one of my Trados TMs without even reading the manual. I think it's a bit like Trados 5.5 ExtraTerm but more user-friendly and hopefully with fewer bugs.

I also tried +Tools but had no luck. Anyway, Fusion has left me so impressed that I think I don't need to try +Tools anymore (this is just my personal opinion).
