Good morning! Another question from a (still) rather unexperienced Cafetran user: I was wondering if it's possible to add a comment to a translated segment that will show up as a "traditional" comment in the Word preview. I know that I can add a segment note but as far as I can see, this is rather used as a note to myself and not to my client, right? Thanks for your help! Irene

Please note that in its current form the macro will only perform its conversion task for textual notes that have been inserted in the main body text (not in headers, footers, text boxes etc.).
You can't directly save Word comments in CafeTran, but you can export an additional bilingual Word file which includes a column with your notes per segment and deliver it along with your target file.
This can be found in the Project>Export menu

TOPIC STARTER
Thank you

Good morning! Thanks to both of you for your answers and suggestions. The first solution sounds a bit complicated (to me) but I'll give it a try as soon as I have some time. The second solution might not work for me as this concerns a text that only has to be delivered it Word (no bilingual file). I can insert my comments when proofreading this Word document, of course, and it's no big deal. But I was just wondering if I could do this directly when translating in Cafetran. ... See more

Update Sept 2019, CTE now exports comments to docx
Sep 14, 2019
I thought it would be useful, for future users, to add that this functionality is now implemented in Cafetran Espresso. You can export the notes added in CFE as comments on the segment by choosing Project >> Export and Exchange >> Export current document with notes.
If first, you select Project >> Export and Exchange >> Export source segment with notes, the source segment will be appended in the comment.
