Yes join the movement! I like it so I just joined.

Some clients think about the issue of rates and understand when you explain that a translator wants to pay the rent and that they will get their money's worth and that good rates is a WIN-WIN situation.

P.S. The website is non-profit. Proz should be happy to see links like these posted here if they are trying to improve the situation of translators. I don't get it why they keep censoring my posts.

I'm free to manage my time and work the way I want to bring me most efficient results.

There's no in-house job where you have that kind of freedom. Of course, as any other freedom, it also brings a high level of responsibility. The higher the freedom, the higher the responsibility. ( paradox) You are free, but at the same time very, very obliged.

FREE = 4 letters;
FREE-LANCERS = 11 letters;
So we are 'FREE' for 36.36% only. Not much...
The main difference (neither advantage, nor handicap) is our clients.
Yet as far as there's no 'absolutely free' people upon this Earth being a freelancer is relatively ok
