Your suggestions are really practical, gives new translators a glimpse of the real world.
The points about CV are superb, I occasionally translate CV English Spanish and... when I kindly (and carefully) suggest to downsize it to one or two pages most of my clients think I'm kidding.
I personally like having a one-page CV adapted to what my potential client wants to know about me. Boring CV don't catch your potential client eye, but tawdry or kitsch coloured CV can end up in the bin.

I also agree this is great advice, I have even added it to my favorites But on the other hand I would like to point out that there is a considerably number of translation agencies that are not serious either. With the pass of time I have realized that they provide to low-priced translators and demotivate serious translators.
